OUR STORY

Fifty years of maritime engineering

Founded in Gothenburg in 1972. Today, designing the world's first floating container terminal.

OUR MISSION

Service ULCVs anywhere. No dredging. No fifteen-year build.

The world's largest container vessels can berth in fewer than 80 ports. Building new terminals takes decades and demands dredging that wrecks coastlines. We design floating terminals that arrive ready, service 24,000 TEU vessels, and last 60 years. Same approach for nuclear power, transshipment, and barge logistics.

THE FOUNDER

Bengt Lundquist – Maritime Pioneer, Senior Naval Architect & Innovator (1928–2026)

Bengt Lundquist was one of Sweden's most accomplished naval architects and a pioneering force in the development of modern Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) shipping. Over a career spanning more than six decades, he contributed to the design, construction, and operation of vessels, ports, offshore structures, and maritime transport systems that helped shape the evolution of the global shipping industry.

During his years with Wallenius Lines, where he ultimately served as Technical Director, Bengt played a central role in the transition from conventional cargo handling to RoRo transportation. He was instrumental in developing innovative vessel designs, cargo handling systems, ramps, vehicle decks, and operational concepts that significantly improved the efficiency of global vehicle and cargo transport. His work contributed to the emergence of specialized RoRo vessels, the establishment of dedicated RoRo terminals, and the creation of the Atlantic Container Line (ACL), one of the most influential shipping concepts of its time.

Throughout his career, Bengt supervised shipbuilding and offshore projects across Europe, Asia, and North America, worked closely with shipowners, shipyards, classification societies, and governments, and led the development of numerous groundbreaking maritime concepts. His expertise extended from vessel design and port infrastructure to offshore energy, logistics systems, and sustainable shipping solutions.

As founder and long-time leader of Sea Technology, Bengt continued to innovate throughout his life. He was one of the driving forces behind the Sea Tech Floating Terminal (STFT) concept, a visionary offshore logistics platform designed to improve the efficiency, sustainability, and resilience of future maritime transport networks.

Bengt passed away in February 2026, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy of engineering excellence, innovation, and leadership. His ideas, designs, and pioneering spirit continue to inspire Sea Technology and the wider maritime community. Few individuals have contributed as broadly, or as enduringly, to the development of modern maritime logistics.
